Then another.

An orbit is never solved, only approximated: the integrator takes a small step, commits a small error, and promises to keep it below tolerance.1 The trajectory above is being integrated by your scrolling. You are, at this moment, the timestep. Choose it wisely.

Errata

The universe simulated on this page is smaller than the real one. The author regrets the missing 1080 particles.

1 Symplectic integrators do not eliminate error; they make it orbit the truth instead of drifting away from it. This is also a workable life strategy.

2 No stock photos, no screenshots. Each plate in the catalogue is generated by this page when it loads: seeded randomness, a little trigonometry, and the same physics it depicts.
